Method and levels
Methodology
Our teachers use a communicative approach, and gradually introduce grammatical structures and idioms, applying these notions to reading of newspaper articles, magazines and also some contemporary Italian fiction. During class, time is also dedicated to the use of DVDs and multimedia tools to improve listening comprehension. We encourage students interaction under the teacher’s guidance.
Levels
Our Institute offers Italian courses at all levels, from Beginners 1 to Advanced PLUS. All courses at the Istituto are based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), a guideline used to describe achievements of learners of foreign languages across Europe.
Our Beginners 1 through Conversation 1 courses cover the CEFR level A1; the Intermediate 1 and 2, and Conversation 2 courses cover the CEFR level A2; and the Advanced courses (incl. Conversation 3) cover the CEFR level B1.
Unless you are an absolute beginner, our Placement Test will indicate to our teachers which level is best for you (in some cases, this can be replaced by an interview with the teacher).
Our classroom has video, audio and Internet facilities.
Our teachers, who are native Italian speakers with university qualifications and have long experience teaching Italian as a foreign language, conduct our classes. All courses are held at our downtown location.
